How can we help?
Email support@canieat.co.nz. We usually reply within two working days. We can’t give personal medical advice; for that, please talk to your midwife, GP or pharmacist.
Is Can I Eat free?
Yes. Checking foods, meals and barcodes, the sources behind every answer, safety guidance and the allergy card are free, with no ads. Plus is an optional upgrade for unlimited photo scans and bigger households.
Why do I need an account?
So your situation (for example pregnant and coeliac), household and history are kept safe and the same on your phone and the web, and so you and your partner can share them. We only need your email.
How do you decide if something is safe?
Answers come from written rules based on New Zealand and Australian health authorities, each with a link and a review date. AI is only used to read labels, menus and photos, or to look up what’s usually in a meal; it never decides what’s safe. How we review guidance.
I already ate something that says Avoid. What now?
Don’t panic: most people who eat a risky food are fine. Open the answer and tap “I already ate it” for what to watch for and when to call. If you feel unwell, call your midwife or GP, or Healthline on 0800 611 116 (NZ) / healthdirect on 1800 022 222 (AU). In an emergency call 111 (NZ) or 000 (AU).
A barcode or meal gave the wrong answer
Please tell us: email support@canieat.co.nz with the product or meal name (and barcode if you have it). Product details come from Open Food Facts and can be out of date, so always check the label.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Profile → Delete my account and data. On the web: Settings → Delete my account and data. This removes your account and synced data straight away.
How do I cancel Plus?
If you bought Plus in the iPhone app, cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions. On Android, in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions. On the web, Settings → Can I Eat Plus → Manage subscription.
